Vatican City (Monday, 11/03/2014, Gaudium Press) On All Souls Day, in St. Peter’s Square, the Holy Father recalled, in his speech before the Marian prayer of the Angelus, the victims of wars and violence, being killed because of their Christian Faith. papa.jpg

“We remember our brothers and sisters who passed away because they are Christians; and those who sacrifice themselves for the service of others. We entrust to the Lord especially those who have left us over the last year, “he said.

The Pope pointed out that “death is not the last word on the destiny of a human being, as man is called to a life without limits, which has its root and its fulfillment in God.”

Referring to All Souls Day, Pope Francis stated that “between yesterday and today many do a visit to a cemetery, which is the ‘place of rest’, in the hope of a final awakening.”

“Jesus himself revealed to us that a dead body is “a sleep” and that from that sleep he will be awaken. It is with this faith that we stop by the graves of our loved ones, of those who have wished us well and did us good. “

At the end of the Angelus, the Pope asked the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is also called ” the gate of heaven”: “Help us in our daily pilgrimage on earth and help us to never lose sight of the ultimate goal of life, which is Paradise,” he added. (LMI)
