Vatican City (Monday, 12/22/2014, Gaudium Press) The Vatican Basilica will welcome on Christmas eve the Child Jesus for the Christmas Mass presided by Pope Francis, to take place at the Basilica of St Peter at 9:.30 pm (local time).
During the solemn ceremony, among the songs will can find the “Et Incarnatus est”, the Mass in C minor by Mozart, which refers to the Prologue of John’s Gospel: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”
The music will be performed by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the Austrian Maestro Manfred Honeck.
Composed by Mozart between 1781 and 1782, in Vienna, the Mass in C minor was done as a promise to cure the future wife of the musician, Constanza, who was ill at the time. (LMI)
