Boyacá – Colombia (Monday, 12/22/2014, Gaudium Press) In the city of Boyacá, Colombia, the festivities for the anniversary of Providential Renewal of the Fabric of the miraculous painting of Our Lady of the Rosary Chiquinquirá, have already begun. The feast takes place December 26.
Since December 17, every evening at 6pm, in the Marian shrine, the preparatory Novena of Our Lady is celebrated as it has been done for the last 428 years.
Among the different activities planned for the occasion the Vespers are said in honor of the Virgin of Chiquinquirá, accompanied by a serenade offered to Queen and Patroness of the Colombian people, which will take place on Christmas Day, at 8 pm, in the Metropolitan Basilica.
In the morning of the following day, which is dedicated to patron saint, the solemn procession takes place with a copy of the miraculous painting of Our Lady. After the procession a Mass is said in Plaza de la Libertad.
Father Jaime Monsalve Trujillo, Rector of the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary Chiquinquirá, said “Finally, we assure you of our prayers to Our Lady of Chiquinquirá, for your intentions and your projects as well as for the needs of your communities”.(LMI)
