    Rio Branco – Acre, Brazil (Tuesday, 05/26/2015, Gaudium Press) Devotees of Our Lady Aparecida in Rio Branco, in the northern state of Acre, had the opportunity and the privilege of receiving the visit of the pilgrim statue of the Patroness Brazil, Our Lady of Aparecida. The celebration of the Eucharist ended the first pilgrimage of this statue which is part of the preparations for the 300 anniversary of the founding of this statue in the Paraíba do Sul River, in 1717.

    With the presence of approximately 4000 devotees, in the capital town of the State of Acre, the celebration was celebrated over by the diocesan Bishop His Excellency Joaquín Pertiñez Fernandez.

    On this occasion, a portion of soil was collected which will be included in the Jubilee crown, representing all the states of Brazil.

    Before the Mass, priests and faithful went out in procession through the streets of the capital town carrying the pilgrim image of Our Lady of Aparecida, which was taken in a boat and carried by children to a large gym, where she was welcomed with fervor by thousands of faithful who were wainting for the statue.

    Between the 14 and the 24 of May, the White River Diocese received the pilgrim image of Our Lady of Aparecida sent by the National Shrine on 13 May, and during ten days, the statue visited the diocese, participating in motorcades, processions, visits to hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, educational centers and homes for the elderly.

    The next capital to welcome the pilgrim image of the Patroness of Brazil will be Belo Horizonte. The launching Mass at the National Shrine of Aparecida will take place on Thursday, May 28, at 9 am and the welcoming Mass at the stadium Mineirao will be on May 31. (LMI)
