Aleppo, Syria (Thursday, October 27, 2016, Gaudium Press) Rocket attacks on Aleppo are being launched with a devastating impact on the civilians who find themselves trapped in the warzone.aleppo.jpg

A shocking image has been shared online showing a nun inspecting a rocket which fell near her convent – and the post alleges that the missile came from US-backed rebels.

Intense bombardment in recent weeks has reduced the rebel-held east of what was Syrian’s largest city to ruins.

And the picture of a Carmelite Sister at her convent with the rocket was credited to be “a missile launched by terrorists occupying the eastern districts.”

Critics have argued with the caption, saying it’s actually a BM-30 Smerch missile being used by Russia and the labelling of it as a rebel rocket is propaganda.

Earlier this year, the Carmelite sisters asked for prayers to be said for their safety.

“The bombs are falling all around us, but we are not going to leave the people in their suffering,” Sister Anne-Francoise, a French nun from a community of Discalced Carmelites in Aleppo told Religion News.
