Bishop Tremolada requires him to choose a penitential gesture to repair the fault. “The context, the dress, the way of treating the sacred species, some jokes out of place and unfortunate” deplored the Bishop.

Newsroom (September 22, 2022, 5:10 PM, Gaudium Press) The Bishop of Brescia, Italy, Bishop Pierantonio Tremolada, has asked Fr. Fabio Corazzina of his diocese to “choose a penitential gesture that expresses the awareness of his responsibility and somehow intervene to repair what happened.

The Bishop refers to the “mass” celebrated by this priest, dressed as a cyclist, on a table without a tablecloth, in an unclean place, and in which the hosts flew through the air carried by the wind. The video of this act was posted by the priest himself.

“The context, the dress, the way of treating the sacred species, the freedom in formulating the prayers and the Eucharistic prayer itself, some jokes out of place and unfortunate” deplored the Bishop.

Bishop Tremolada also wrote about his astonishment that the priest did not “think about the consequences of such an act, which was intentionally spread through social networks. How can one not realize the perplexity and pain that this would have caused, and has indeed caused, in so many people who deeply love the Eucharist and place it at the center of their faith life?”

The Bishop asks the priest to humbly apologize.
