While Catholics were attending a pro-life Mass, the façade of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC, USA, was used as a projection screen for promoting abortionist slogans.
Newsroom (22/01/2022 9:01 AM, Gaudium Press): A pro-abortion group used the facade of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC, USA, to project pro-abortion phrases. Lately, the Basilica has been the scene of anti-catholic vandalism.
The incident occurred during the Mass of the National Vigil of Prayer for Life. In all, three messages were projected: “1 in 4 abortion patients is Catholic”, “Pro-choice Catholics, you are not alone”, and “Stop stigmatizing, start listening.”
The projections were first reported on Twitter by Religion News Service national reporter Jack Jenkins.
Pro-abortion… ‘Catholics’?
The phrases were projected by a notorious abortion group, “Catholics for Choice.” Allegedly composed by Catholics, the group openly favours Abortion.
John Becker, a spokesman for the group, confirmed to Aleteia that “it was Catholics for Choice that carried that out.” The group used the sidewalk in front of the basilica on Michigan Avenue, claiming to have obtained city permits.
‘Diabolical’ demonstration
According to the group, their demonstration was “respectful.”
However, the Archbishop of San Francisco, Salvatore Cordileone, completely disagrees. “The attempted desecration is enormous,” Cordileone said on Twitter. “Diabolical.”
While the abortionists were projecting their messages inside the basilica, Archbishop William E. Lori of Baltimore delivered a pro-life homily: “Abortion is a tragic choice with lasting consequences. What is needed in such a situation is a witness to love and to life… This evening, I would like to salute those who carry forth with such ministries.”
“The Church -he continued-does not give up on men and women who have chosen Abortion. The Church seeks to bring light, healing, and hope. Thus witnessing to the beauty of life, one woman and one child at a time.” (FM)
