“We all know that if we do not eat properly, we will fall ill and die. That is why, by spiritually nourishing ourselves with the Word of God, our lives will be strengthened.”
Newsdesk (07/07/2021 22:35, Gaudium Press) Addressing his people by video message, Archbishop Rogelio Cabrera López of Monterrey, President of the Mexican Episcopal Conference, stressed that “The Word of God in our life is as important as our daily food.
“We all know that if we do not eat properly, we will fall ill and die. That is why, by nourishing ourselves with the Word of God, our life will be strengthened and our words will have a solid foundation when they are expressed,” he explained.
The value of the word
Stressing the importance given to the word, the prelate pointed out that, “God Himself is a clear example of the fulfillment of His Word in the promises He makes to His people, through Christ His Son, in whom we find His full realization.”
According to the Mexican Archbishop, “It is necessary that we Christians, faithful followers of the teachings of the Son of God, the Incarnate Word, do not forget the value of our own words; our words which, together with a coherent testimony, will give credibility to our life. Whoever cannot take responsibility for what he says will end up being a person who lacks confidence”.
May the Divine Word grow in importance in our daily life
Bishop Cabrera López considers it urgent that, “As members of the Church, immersed in a diverse and changing society, we become forgers of hope, making known the Word of God, which is the true path of our life.”
In concluding his message, the Mexican prelate urges the faithful to take advantage of this period of time, in which many people have an opportunity to rest, to deepen the value of the Word of God in our daily lives. He stresses that it is “necessary that we allow the Divine Word to grow in importance in our daily lives, illuminating every situation, every moment, helping us to understand and respond with courage to the Will of God.” (EPC)
