A great pleasure for the Association of the Friends of the Bavarian Crib to offer a crib, and an honor for Bishop Msgr. Rudolf Voderholzer to personally deliver the gift to the Pope Emeritus.
Newsroom (11/12/2021 11:06 AM, Gaudium Press) Last Wednesday, the Association of Friends of the Bavarian Nativity Scene was in Rome to participate in the annual “100 Nativity Scenes in the Vatican” exhibition held under Bernini’s famous colonnade in St. Peter’s Square.
Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer of Regensburg, a Bavarian diocese, joined the group of pilgrims for a few days.
“Thanks to the support of our bishop Rudolf Voderholzer, we were able to participate in the international exhibition of the nativity scene under Bernini’s colonnades this year,” said Martlreiter, president of the Association.
An unforgettable highlight for the Nativity friends was the meeting with Archbishop Georg Gänswein, to whom, together with Archbishop Rudolf Voderholzer, they were able to present two cribs in the rooms of the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization: one for Pope Francis and the other for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.
The nativity scenes presented were covered in snow.
“Of course, this representation has a very special meaning for the countries north of the Alps,” Martlreiter commented.
On this occasion, Bishop Rudolf had the opportunity to personally hand over the gift of the Benedict XVI. And at the end of the visit Pope Benedict gave his apostolic blessing.
