Numerous faithful all over the world were waiting for this piece of news. For some, Benedict a “link” between the Fatima apparitions and their fulfilment.
Newsroom (21/03/2022 6:42 PM, Gaudium Press) As confirmed by Arch. Georg Ganswein, on March 25, Feast of the Annunciation, Benedict XVI will participate in the consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, performed by Francis and the bishops of the whole world.
In an email sent to CNA Deutsch, Arch. Ganswein assured that “Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI will join in prayer in Pope Francis’ call regarding the consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”
Benedict will not be present at the St Peter’s Basilica ceremony but will join privately.

This union of Benedict with the consecration responds to the sentiments and requests of many. As Gaudium Press’ columnist Bonifacio Silvestre noted last Friday, “between Fatima and the future, Benedict XVI is the centre: the link between the request and the realization.”
Silvestre recalled the words of the Pope Emeritus in May 2010, at the Shrine of Fatima, when he stated that “those who think that the prophetic mission of Fatima has ended, are mistaken.”
Indeed, as Pope Benedict noted, the whole world remembers Our Lady’s words in the Cova da Iria. These words ask for conversion, the recitation of the Rosary, the Consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart, and announce great calamities if Our Lady’s plead were not heeded: Russia would spread its errors throughout the world promoting wars and persecutions to the Church. Several nations would be annihilated…
