The event is promoted by the Commission for Biblical-Catechetical Animation led by the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops (CNBB). It marks the opening of the celebrations marking the Month of the Bible golden Jubilee.
Newsdesk (08/06/2021 08:25, Gaudium Press) Yesterday, June 7, the Catholic Church in Brazil began the National Bible Week, an event promoted by the Commission for Biblical-Catechetical Animation of the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops (CNBB) to mark the beginning of the celebration of the golden jubilee of the Month of the Bible.
According to the advisor of the Commission for Biblical-Catechetical Animation, Fr. Jânison de Sá, the event has a formative objective. The priest highlights that in 2021 the Catholic Church in Brazil will celebrate 50 years of the Month of the Bible, “a very important milestone in the history of the Church in Brazil, where the biblical circles spread in all the communities of our immense country,” he emphasized.
Theme and motto
The theme chosen for the Month of the Bible is St. Paul’s Letter to the Galatians, and the motto is “you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Gal 3:28d). The passage is part of the “baptismal hymn” described in Gal 3:26-28 when the Apostle declares that all are sons and daughters of God.
In its opening, the Biblical Week will make a memory of these 50 years “so important for the new generations, so that they can know this journey of biblical animation, of the biblical circles, of the reflection groups in all the communities of the country,” explains Fr. de Sá.
Biblical Week’s program
The opening event included the participation of Bishop José Antônio Peruzzo, president of the Commission; Bishop Jacinto Bergmann; Sister Zuleica Silvano (Pauline); Brother José Nery (Lasallian); and Fr. Jânison de Sá Santos.
On June 8, the author of the introductory text, Professor Joel Antônio Ferreira, will present the theme for the year 2021. Then, on June 9, Sr. Aíla Pinheiro, of the New Jerusalem Congregation, and Fr. Benedito Antônio Bueno de Almeida (Pauline Fathers) will talk about the mission of St. Paul the Apostle.
Finally, on June 10, Professor Cláudio Vianney Malzoni, Mariana Aparecida Venâncio and Fr. João Batista Maroni will discuss the importance of the biblical circles in the Month of the Bible in the perspective of the Letter to the Galatians. (EPC)
