Newsroom (June 24, 2022, 4:30 AM, Gaudium Press) On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Don Orione, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco presided over a Holy Mass at the San Siro Cathedral in Sanremo, Italy. The celebration was attended by the local bishop, Most Rev. Antonio Suetta.
Saint Luigi Orione’s actuality
In his homily, the Cardinal highlighted the actuality of St. Luigi Orione that “exudes his presence in an almost visible way, through his communities, his spiritual sons and the works that he accomplished and that they amplify”.

“A very particular and living presence, as a figure but also his message of Faith and Charity, which are of an overwhelming actuality for our western world, increasingly distressed and lost,” he stressed.
Round Table
In the evening, at 8:30 pm (local time), a Round Table will be held at the Casino Theater on the theme chosen for the celebration, the following phrase repeated by St. Luigi Orione: “Only charity will save the world”.
Cardinal Bagnasco will be joined by Bishop Flavio Peloso (Postulator) and Dr. Davide Gandini (professor and formator). The meeting will be moderated by Dr. Massimiliano Menichetti, director of Vatican Radio. (EPC)
