Cardinal Müller will participate in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the first visit of the Polish Pope to Spain, and also in the Congress for the celebration of Cardinal/Pope Ratzinger’s 95th birthday.
Newsroom (27/10/2022 18:00, Gaudium Press) 1982: 40 years ago, John Paul II made his first Apostolic visit to Spain, the first of the five he would make. In those days, the Iberian country took to the streets to see and hear the Polish Pope, initiating a very strong and close relationship between him and the Spaniards. John Paul II visited 18 cities on that occasion and gave 57 speeches in just 10 days, under the slogan of ‘Witnesses to Hope’.
To celebrate the anniversary of that first visit, the Karol Wojtyla /Saint John Paul II Institute will hold a commemorative day on the evening of 25 October at the Royal Casino of Madrid. One of the event’s main speakers will be Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. The German Cardinal will speak on John Paul II and the New Evangelization – source of moral and spiritual renewal.
The following day, Cardinal Müller will participate in the Congress organized by San Pablo CEU University, the Christiana Virtus Foundation, the Association of Ecclesiastical Theology, and the Disciples of Benedict XVI, to commemorate the 95th birthday of Pope Ratzinger. Peter Seewald( biographer of Benedict XVI), Archbishop Juan Antonio Reig Pla, and Archbishop Ignacio Munilla will also be present at this congress.
In the same vein, on Monday, 7 November, the E-Cristians Association, the Faculty of Communication, Education and Humanities of the UAO-CEU, and the CEU Institute of Humanities’ Ángel Ayala will organize a round-table discussion entitled ‘St. John Paul II: Yesterday and Today’.
The event will also include the participation of Monsignor José Ignacio Munilla, Bishop of Orihuela-Alicante.
