Newsroom (05/31/2022 10:10, Gaudium Press) On Saturday, May 21, the Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid, Carlos Osoro, presided the priestly ordination ceremony of eleven deacons at Almudena Cathedral, Spain. The Holy Mass was attended by the auxiliary bishops and the rectors of the seminaries of the Spanish capital.

Presenting God’s holiness to all men

The prelate stressed that the great task of the new priests is to present God’s holiness to all men. “Transformed in Christ you will live the strength and beauty that this ordination gives you to announce the Gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord, the greatest thing that human beings can know.”

Using the Gospel of the day as a reference, the Cardinal told the priests that they have been sent to dedicate themselves to the cause of the Gospel and to carry out the works of the Lord. And he reminded them that “united with the whole Church you can truly do what Jesus did: ‘take and eat, take and drink,’ as well as give forgiveness to men, rebuild your own lives and propose to them the way of Jesus Christ. Your life and your ministry will have meaning to the extent that you insert Jesus Christ in your lives.”

Love for Jesus makes us identify with Him

Finally, he stressed that priests are “loved in order to love, always living from love and with the love of the Lord. Love for Jesus makes us identify with Him, configure ourselves with Him, act like Him and love like Him. This is what He gives you today also through priestly ordination,” he concluded.

The new priests are: Esteban Bernárdez Yanes, Jorge Boada Sáenz, Diego Cano Morata, Enrique de Arteaga Bustamante, Pablo Galiot Caballero, Gleison Antonio Linhares dos Santos, Esteban Martínez González y Jesús Jorge Perea, from the Conciliar Seminary; and Juan Alcalde Guibert, Andrea Bottana and Alejandro Guerrero Quirós, from Redemptoris Mater Seminary.
