Italy – Turin (24/12/2021 3:00 PM, Gaudium Press) Starting on December 30, at 5 pm (local time), the Cathedral of Turin will expose the Holy Shroud for a time of prayer and reflection.
The event, live-streamed on Social media
Most Rev. Cesare Nosiglia, Archbishop of Turin and Brother Alois, Prior of Taizé, will attend the event. In-person attendance is restricted to the young people enrolled in the Taizé Community workshops and guests representing Italian institutions and dioceses, following the health regulations in force.
However, the event will be broadcast live via social media accounts such as @sindoneofficial, @taizetorino and @diocesitorino.
A gesture of courage and hope
The meeting, Bishop Nosiglia noted, was previously planned for December 2020 and will now be held in two segments: the first in December 2021 and the second in July 2022. “We wanted to keep this commitment, in the framework of the European meeting of Taizé Youth, as a gesture of courage and hope,” he stressed.
The Archbishop of Turin emphasized that the spirit is the same: “The young people of Europe in Turin mean welcome and mutual understanding, an opportunity to mobilize the city around an event that belongs to everyone, not only to the Catholic Church and but to other Christian Churches,” he concluded.
