500 years of Christianity in the Philippines
Initially, 500 Filipinos were scheduled to attend the international event; however, due to the worsening of the Covid-19 pandemic, their plans were canceled. The number of participants from the Philippines was originally chosen to highlight and celebrate the 500 years of Christianity in their country.
Archbishop Jose Palma of Cebu, the current president of CEPCEI, is planning to attend the global event. According to tradition, one of the Masses of the International Eucharistic Congress is usually presided over by the host bishop of the previous congress. (EPC)
