Among the Blessed to be canonised is the French diocesan priest, Charles de Foucauld, who was assassinated in 1916.

Vatican City (09/11/2021 19:15, Gaudium Press) The Congregation for the Causes of Saints has announced that seven Blessed will be canonised on 15 May 2022. Although these canonisations were decreed by Pope Francis during the ordinary public consistory on 3 May 2021, the dates had not yet been fixed because of the pandemic.

Among the Blessed to be canonised are: the French diocesan priest, Charles de Foucauld, murdered in 1916; Maria Domenica Mantovani, co-founder and first Superior General of the Institute of the Little Sisters of the Holy Family; Maria Francisca de Jesus, foundress of the Capuchin Tertiary Sisters of Loano.

The list continues with the priests: Giustino Maria Russolillo, founder of the Society of Divine Vocations and of the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Vocations; Luigi Maria Palazzolo, founder of the Institute of the Sisters of the Poor – Palazzolo Institute; Cesar de Bus, founder of the Congregation of the Fathers of Christian Doctrine.

Lazarus, known as Devasahayam, the first Indian layman to become a saint, will also be canonised on the occasion. He converted to Christianity as an adult, and for this reason was persecuted to the point of martyrdom. (EPC)
