The annual prayer campaign entitled “A Million Children Pray the Rosary for Peace” took place on October 18.

Newsroom (08/10/2023 15:26, Gaudium Press) Since 2005, on October 18, annually the Aid to the Church in need spearheads the prayer initiative entitled “A Million Children Pray the Rosary for Peace”.  Organized and promoted by the Pontifical Catholic Foundation ‘Aid to the Church in Need’ (ACN), they are supported by the Shrine of Fatima, the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, and other partners.

This prayer campaign is an incentive for children all over the world to pray for peace and unity among people, as well as a way of teaching them to seek God’s help in difficult times.

In 2023, the final number recorded was 1,039,628, and crossed the globe, with countries in Europe, the Americas, Oceania, Africa, and Asia – including Iceland, it speaks to the universality of the prayer.

Prayer that yields a decisive difference

Cardinal Mauro Piacenza, international president of ACN, emphasized the importance of children reciting the rosary and called on Catholics to ensure that as many children as possible accept the invitation, as this is a necessary means given by God and which “makes a decisive difference in people’s lives”.

“We would like you to organize meetings in as many places as possible, involving children’s groups, schools, prayer groups, radio and television, digital platforms, social networks… and even your own children and grandchildren,” he urged.

Origin of the “One Million Children Pray the Rosary for Peace” campaign

Started in 2005 in Venezuela, the campaign heeds the words of the Holy Father Padre Pio, who said that “if a million children pray the Rosary, the world will change”. According to Cardinal Piacenza, this experience has shown on several occasions that the prayer of children “has a great impact”.

Over the years it has continued to grow and it can be said, “Not just one million, but many millions of children from all over the world will unite for one day, during the month of the Rosary in October, to bring a little more Heaven to our earth,” said the Cardinal. (EPC)
