The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians have organized an International Congress to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Institute.

Newsroom (08/10/2022 09:15 AM, Gaudium Press) Last September 30, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians concluded the International Congress of the congregation that is celebrating 150 years of its foundation.

Gathered in Rome for a congress from September 25 to 30, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, the feminine branch of the Salesians, meditated on the importance of the mission of their vocations in the education of young people.

The theme of the congress was “The FMA Contribution to Education (1872-2022). Paths, challenges and perspectives” was celebrated in the house of the Institute in Rome. Among the organizers of the event was the Pontifical Faculty of the Science of Education.

The event allowed the participants to approach the charism of the Institute through an historical perspective: past, present and future.

Through the historical facts of the Institution that came into being thanks to the apostolic zeal of St. John Bosco and St. Mary Mazzarello, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians were able to see the continuity of the charism.

Contemplating the past, the religious reflected on the present. They were shown data and statistics of the congregation, the number and types of activities that the Sisters carry out in the five continents. In this way, the participants were called to make projects and propose challenges for the future to continue the mission in an efficient and creative way.

In all, 270 participants were present in Rome and 1065 registered online and were able to see the witness, the activities and the contribution of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians on the five continents.

The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians are present in more than 96 countries with houses for living the spirituality of the Institute, colleges, schools, centers for professional formation and scholastic guidance among others.
