Newsroom (24/05/2022 12:00 PM, Gaudium Press) Last Sunday, 22nd, the Congregation of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, also known as Lasallians, elected its new Superior General. Brother Armin Luistro, 60, a native of the Philippines, was elected during the 46th General Chapter of the Institute.

Since May 2019, Br Armin is the Visitor of the Lasallian District of East Asia. He was voted in by an assembly of 70 Brother Chapter members gathered in the Aula Magna of the General House in Rome on Via Aurelia. The election came eight years after the appointment of the previous government of the congregation.

Addressing the Chapter, the new Superior General expressed his happiness to “come together and work with everyone to face the many problems, challenges, but also the exciting adventure we will have to face as a Lasallian Family in today’s world.”

‘We are De La Salle’

Brother Armin pronounced his perpetual vows in 1988. On August 26, 2000, he co-founded with Bishop Josef Suwatan of Manado, Indonesia, the De La Salle Catholic University of Manado, now known as De La Salle University in Indonesia.

His first goal will be to search, with energy and joy, for “new paths in this world in which many of our young people are experiencing problems and challenges. Because ‘we are De La Salle'”. (EPC)
