Diocese in Switzerland opts to end wearing masks and anti-covid certificate
Newsroom (February 21, 2022, 10:50 AM, Gaudium Press) The diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg in Switzerland has announced a decrease in anti-Covid measures.
In fact, since February 17, faithful in the region who wish to participate in Church activities, especially the Holy Mass, no longer need to wear masks or present a vaccination certificate.
The maximum number of people, one of the oldest measures adopted since the beginning of the pandemic, will also no longer be in force in the diocese.
The only exception remains the mandatory wearing of masks, until the end of March, for pastoral health activities in some care centers.
The diocese continues to encourage people to prevent themselves by disinfecting their hands frequently, airing closed places whenever necessary, and all the other habits acquired over the past few years.
The Jura Pastoral, a French-speaking region of the Basel diocese, has adopted similar measures but has preferred to maintain distance between the faithful during celebrations.
However, the Swiss diocese explained that people can wear masks if they feel more protected.
The priest and ministers should continue with the same sanitary measures, such as disinfecting their hands before giving communion. The priest should be the only one to receive communion from the chalice. (FM)
