The event recalls the sixth apparition of Our Lady to the three little shepherds when the miracle of the Sun occurred.
Portugal – Fatima (11/10/2021 1:25 PM, Gaudium Press) The last great International Pilgrimage of the year 2021 to the Shrine of Fatima, in Portugal, will be presided by the Archbishop of Salvador (BA) and Primate of Brazil, Cardinal Sérgio da Rocha.
Largest international pilgrimage since the beginning of the pandemic
The event recalls the sixth apparition of Our Lady to the three little shepherds, when the miracle of the Sun took place. The sun ‘danced’ before a crowd of Portuguese people present.
The event will mark the largest international pilgrimage since the start of the pandemic. In total, there are 37 groups registered, including pilgrims from Belgium, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and the United States.
An opportunity after so many privations and sacrifices
For the rector of the Shrine, Father Carlos Cabecinhas, the event represents an “opportunity” after “a year and a half after so many privations and sacrifices in the name of our health and love for our neighbour. With a new horizon, with our eyes already set on the October pilgrimage, we leave a renewed invitation for you to come to the Cova da Iria, with the same responsibility with which you have accustomed us during this time of pandemic,” he stated.
Schedule
The International Pilgrimage will begin on October 12, at 9:30 p.m. (local time), with an International Rosary, in the Chapel of the Apparitions, followed by the Procession of Candles and a Celebration at the Altar of the Prayer Enclosure.
On October 13, at 9am, the International Rosary will be recited in the Little Chapel of the Apparitions and at 10am, an International Holy Mass will be celebrated, a blessing for the Sick, and a Farewell procession at the Altar of the Enclosure. (EPC)
