Seven pilgrimage routes that cross Notre-Dame Cathedral will converge on Paris’ Notre-Dame Cathedral on September 14. Each will have the protection of a saint. “The great saints who have gone before us have shown us the way”.

Newsroom (15/05/2024 15:00, Gaudium Press) Starting on July 28 and running for seven weeks, seven pilgrimage routes across France will converge on Paris Cathedral on September 14, on the occasion of the reopening of the iconic church, five years after the fire that threatened its complete destruction.

Each route will be under the protection of a saint, whose image will be carried in procession. Naturally, each pilgrim will be able to join the route that suits them best, individually or in a group, and for as long as they wish.

On September 14, a prayer vigil will be held in Paris to celebrate the arrival at Notre-Dame, followed by a Mass on September 15, presided over by the Archbishop of Paris in the Church of Saint-Sulpice, which until now has functioned as a cathedral.

Founded on love for the Church and driven by a desire for unity, the 7 Routes Notre-Dame pilgrimage is aimed at all those who allow themselves to be touched by Mary’s call.

The pilgrimage of St. Benedict Joseph Labre, north, will leave from Boulogne sur Mer; that of St. Michael, northwest, from Mont Saint-Michel; that of St. Joan of Arc, east, from the Sanctuary of Mont Saint-Odile; St. Anne’s pilgrimage, south Brittany, Quimper St. James’ pilgrimage, southwest, Brive la Gaillarde; St. Martin’s pilgrimage, west, Saint -Martin-de-Re and St. Joseph’s pilgrimage, southeast, Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourvière – Lyon. In total, all the corners of France will converge on Notre-Dame.

A special pilgrimage, the Marial Crown, will leave from Nanterre and travel through the Parisian suburbs. These Marian Crown pilgrims will carry an image of Our Lady of Tenderness.

The pilgrimage has the support of the president of the French Bishops’ Conference, Bishop Éric de Moulins-Beaufort.
