Holy Couple, Patron Saints of the 10th World Meeting of Families

The Beltrame Quattrocchi couple, the first couple to be beatified by the Catholic Church, has been chosen as the patron of the event that will take place from June 22 to 26 this year.

Rome – Italy (02/06/2022, 11:45 AM, Gaudium Press) Cardinal De Donatis presented the Beltrame Quattrocchi couple as the patron saints of the 10th World Meeting of Families, to be held from June 22 to 26 this year. The announcement was made during a press conference held by the organizers of the event.

An authentic, credible and timely testimony of conjugal love

The Beltrame Quattrocchi couple was the first couple to be beatified by the Catholic Church. The ceremony, which took place on October 21, 2001, in St. Peter’s Basilica, was presided over by then Pope John Paul II and was attended by the couple’s children Tarcisio, Paolo and Enrichetta.

According to Cardinal De Donatis, the story of this couple, who received the sacrament of marriage on November 25, 1905, in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, still appears today as “an authentic, credible and timely testimony of conjugal love.

Delegations from more than 170 countries

Leonardo Nepi, an official of the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life, emphasized that “faithful from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Central Europe” will be adequately represented.

In total, there are delegations from more than 170 countries, composed mainly of families, priests and Bishops responsible for family pastoral care in their respective Episcopal Conferences.

Solidarity Fund and Pastoral Package

Through a solidarity fund, the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life, has committed itself to financially supporting the Episcopal Conferences that have requested financial help to send a delegation to Rome.

With the aim of offering families who will not be in Rome the opportunity to celebrate this world meeting in their dioceses and parishes, the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life has given the local Churches a pastoral package with guidelines and proposals for liturgical celebrations planned for the organization of meetings at the local level.
