Every corner of the cathedral has been studied to give more effect to the light and sound show that will narrate the story of the first Christian martyrs.

Newsroom – France – Lyon (September 30, 2021 12:00 PM, Gaudium Press) The Cathedral of Saint John, located in the French city of Lyon, will host a show about the first Christian martyrs. Entitled ‘Lyon: Born of Light’, the event will take place inside this historic Catholic temple.

During the artistic presentation, the audience will have the opportunity to go back in time and witness with their own eyes the lives of St. Pothinus and Iraneus and many other martyrs of the Church of Lyon from the earliest days of Christianity.

Show coordinated by world-renowned artist

Scheduled to run from October 22 to November 11, the sound and light show is coordinated by director and set designer Damien Fontaine, a world-renowned artist.

“My goal is not to give a history course or catechism, or even to tell the whole story of the construction of the cathedral. Of course, the show is linked to that context, but for me, the stakes were above all artistic,” said Fontaine.

The presentation will tell the story of the persecution of the first Christians

This artistic presentation was originally to take place in the year 2020, however, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the event had to be postponed until this year. Church authorities are hopeful that the event will attract a large audience.

Around 300 extras will take part in the staging, which recalls the amazing history of the early Christian community, the persecution they suffered, and the founding of the Church in ancient Gaul. According to Fontaine, every corner of the cathedral was studied to give the show more effect. (EPC)
