The ‘One Million Children Pray the Rosary for Peace’ campaign began in 2005 and has been held every year since then.
Newsroom (October 24, 2021, 7:00 PM, Gaudium Press) Last Monday, October 18th, the ‘One Million Children Pray the Rosary for Peace’ campaign was held. This initiative, promoted by the Pontifical Foundation Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), counted with the participation of more than 300 thousand children.
According to the ecclesiastical assistant of ACN-International, Father Martin Barta, “the total number of participants is certainly much higher, since many groups, schools and families participated on their own, but did not register” on the ACN website. Among them, in Toronto, Canada, Guiding Light Academy students also participated in the event as part of their daily Rosary.
Numerous testimonies
The organizers of the event received numerous testimonies from various countries that were not officially registered on the website. In some of these countries, the Rosary was broadcast on television or radio, allowing thousands more children to participate.
In Australia and Spain, for example, entire schools came together to pray the rosary. In Madrid, children were amazed to learn that for 24 hours, children all over the world were reciting exactly the same prayers, in their own languages.
South Korea and South Africa
In some countries, because of the shortage of Catholic schools, it was almost impossible to carry out the campaign. South Korea was one such nation where it is not possible to invite children to pray the rosary in class, except for the few that attend Catholic schools.
In South Africa, the children could not meet in the parishes because it was a school day, and in the evenings the distance, safety, and cost of travel made it impossible. However, more than 700 children lit a candle in their homes and recited the Rosary at the same time. (EPC)
