Washington – United States (24/06/2022 7:02 PM, Gaudium Press) The Museum of the Bible, located in Washington, United States, opened an exhibition dedicated to the history of the architecture of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City.

The Transformation of St. Peter’s Basilica

Entitled “Basilica Sancti Petri: The Transformation of St. Peter’s Basilica”, the exhibit will remain open to the public until September 25. Visitors will have the opportunity to see some of the treasures of the Vatican Museums and the Vatican Library.

St. Peter’s Basilica was designed with many Roman and Latin influences. The exhibition is a combination of historical and artistic perspective, bringing together original prints presented by various 16th century artists.

Exhibition inspired by a book

This exhibition is inspired by the book “Basilica Sancti Petri”, published in the year 2014 by Barbara Jatta, director of the Vatican Museums. There, the story of the construction of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City is told.

According to Jeffrey Kloha, Curatorial Director of the Museum of the Bible, “the history of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome is in many ways the history of church architecture.” He is grateful for the partnership with the Vatican Apostolic Library, because thanks to these generous efforts it has been possible for people in Washington to see this history in person.(EPC)
