Next World Meeting of Families Scheduled for 2028

The first World Meeting of Families took place in Rome in 1994. Since then, every three years, Catholic families from around the world have gathered in a different city.

Vatican City (27/06/2022 8:33 PM, Gaudium Press) At the end of the closing Holy Mass of the 10th World Meeting of Families, celebrated in St. Peter’s Square last Saturday 25, the date of the next edition of the event was announced.

According to the prefect of the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, the next World Meeting of Families will take place in 2028. The city that will host the 11th edition of the event has not yet been announced.

Jubilee of Families

The Cardinal also announced that in 2025, the Catholic Church’s Jubilee year, a “Jubilee of Families” will be held and attended by Pope Francis. “Let us pray right now that these will also be great events of grace that touch the hearts of thousands of families,” he said.

The first World Meeting of Families took place in Rome in 1994. Since then, every three years, Catholic families from around the world have gathered in a different city. The last edition of the World Meeting of Families was originally scheduled for 2021 but postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. (EPC)
