Nigeria: A Fresh Attack Against Catholic Church Leaves Three Dead

Nigeria suffered from yet another attack against Christians. On Sunday, three people died, and at least thirty others were kidnapped in Kaduna State.

Newsroom (21/06/2022 2:59 PM, Gaudium Press) Still grieving over the attack that left 40 people dead during the Pentecost Mass, Nigeria has witnessed a new attack against the Christian community.

Last Sunday, June 19, at least three people were killed, and more than thirty others were kidnapped in Kaduna state.

Armed men stormed the village and attacked the Catholic church in the Rubu community, where they killed three believers, and the Baptist church in the village, where over thirty people were taken hostage.

Three other villages in the region were also invaded. The invaders destroyed houses and took several inhabitants captive, the exact number of whom is still unknown.

The local authorities have confirmed the deaths of the three Catholics. The Kaduna security commissioner, Samule Aruwan, said that military patrols are searching the area, and investigations will be initiated in order to identify and convict the culprits.

The Christian Association of Nigeria denounces that churches are being targeted by armed groups and condemned last Sunday’s attack.

The killings and the kidnapping in Kaduna happened only two days after the funeral Mass of the victims of the terrorist attack against the faithful attending the Pentecost Mass. (FM)
