The event will follow the theme “The Church in a permanent state of mission” and the motto “You will be my witnesses” (Acts 1,8).
Newsroom (16/11/2021 20:00, Gaudium Press) Next Saturday, 20 November, through a live broadcast officially transmitted by the social networks of the CNBB, the official opening of the Missionary Jubilee Year will take place, which will follow the theme “The Church in a permanent state of mission” and the slogan “You will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8).
The theme chosen follows the teachings of the Aparecida document which understands the mission as the identity of the Church, that is, it is not something optional, an activity of the Church among others, but its very nature. The motto, on the other hand, follows the choice of Pope Francis for the message for World Mission Day 2022.
To know the initiatives, projects and institutions that cooperate in the mission of God
The Jubilee Missionary Year will be a time of celebration to remember the missionary journey both at international and national level, as well as to project “missionary action as a paradigm for all the work of the Church” (Evangelii Gaudium, 15).
The idea is that this will be an opportune time to get to know the initiatives, projects and institutions that cooperate in the mission of God. It will also be an opportunity to get to know better the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, the central organism of the Catholic Church responsible for directing and coordinating evangelization and missionary cooperation.
