The 21st edition of the International Festival of Music and Sacred Art will take place from November 12 to 15.
(11/11/2022 15:00, Gaudium Press) From November 12 to 15, the 21st edition of the International Festival of Music and Sacred Art will take place. The event, which has existed for more than two decades, will be held in the papal basilicas in Rome and the Vatican, and will feature the 150th anniversary of the birth of Lorenzo Perosi.
The art that saves art
According to Hans-Albert Courtial, general president of the Pro Musique et Art Sacre Foundation, “each meeting is not a concert, or at least not only that. The initiative, by vocation, wants to offer moments of ‘spiritual elevation’.”
“The idea is that music will save sacred art. By bringing the best musicians to Rome, I can raise funds from all over the world to restore works that need to be restored. It is art that saves art,” he added.
Authentic ‘spiritual elevations
The Foundation’s president general says he doesn’t like to call these gatherings concerts, because “they are authentic ‘spiritual upliftings’ that we particularly need in these times, when many are experiencing moments of despair. We must bring the beauty of music and other arts to lift spirits and glorify the Lord.”
The opening of the festival will be held on November 12 at 9pm at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. On November 13, the event will take place in the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. On November 14, the meeting is scheduled to take place in the Basilica of St. John Lateran. The closing, on November 15, will take place in the Basilica of St. Mary Major (EPC)
