The shrine will be consecrated this November 2022 and will house the largest relic of the founder of the De La Salle Brothers congregation.
Newsroom (13/11/2022 5:00 PM, Gaudium Press) St. John Baptist de la Salle, patron saint of teachers, will for the first time have a shrine dedicated in his memory. The temple will be inaugurated soon in the province of Laguna in the Philippines.
Built within the campus of De La Salle University in Biñan City, the De La Salle Shrine will be consecrated this November and will house the largest relic of the founder of the De La Salle Brothers congregation.
Recognition as a National Shrine
The congregation said it will continue the process of having the temple recognized as a National Shrine by the country’s Conference of Bishops, and that they will continue working to make it a place of pilgrimage for educators.
This designation will make the shrine “a place of pilgrimage and prayer not only for the Lasallian community but also for the general public. We ask everyone to support this effort and make the De La Salle Shrine a gift to the faithful and to the nation,” the Lasallian religious exhorted. (EPC)
