Pope Francis Began Apostolic Trip to Cyprus and Greece

The Pope began the 35th international trip of his pontificate to Cyprus and Greece today. He is scheduled to return to Rome on December 6.  

Newsroom (02/12/2021 4:16 pm, Gaudium Press) As Francis left the House of Santa Marta on Thursday morning he greeted a group of refugees, accompanied by the pontifical esmoler, Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, the Vatican press reported.

Before arriving at Rome’s Fiumicino airport, the Pontiff stopped at the Parish of Santa Maria degli Angeli to pray before the statue of Our Lady of Loreto.

The arrival at the international airport of Larnaca, Cyprus, happened shortly before 3 pm local time. 

In Nicosia, the Pope will meet with priests, religious men and women, deacons, catechists, associations and movements of Cyprus at the Maronite Cathedral of Our Lady of Grace.

He will also visit the Presidential Palace to pay a courtesy visit to the President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades, civil authorities and the Diplomatic Corps.
