Pope Francis to resume general audiences

The Pontiff returns to his regular activities one month after undergoing the colon operation.

Newsroom (03/08/2021 12:50 PM, Gaudium Press) – After the traditional July break, Pope Francis’ general audiences in the Paul VI Hall will resume, tomorrow, August 4, at 9:15 a.m. local time.

Period of rest for the Pontiff

The suspension of the Wednesday general audiences throughout July is already customary in the Vatican. Usually, during this period, the Holy Father takes the opportunity to rest at his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo.

The Pope’s Surgery at Gemelli Hospital

In 2021, instead of going to Castel Gandolfo, Pope Francis used this free time to have surgery at Gemelli Hospital. The Pontiff returns to his regular activities one month after undergoing the colon operation.

The cycle of catechesis dedicated to the Letter to the Galatians

In his last general audience, held on June 30 in the courtyard of San Damaso, Francis continued the cycle of catechesis, begun the previous week, dedicated to the Letter to the Galatians. The Holy Father insisted on the “plan of salvation” prepared by the Lord for every man. His grace, he said, “changes hearts, changes lives, makes us see new paths.” (EPC)
