According to the afternoon bulletin released by the Holy See, Francis is presenting a complex health condition.
Newsroom (19/02/2025 Gaudium Press) The Vatican has released a new health update regarding Pope Francis, who is currently hospitalized at Agostino Gemelli Hospital in Rome. The Holy Father’s condition remains complex, requiring continued prayer from the faithful.
Pope Francis Health: Complex Condition
According to the Holy See’s Press Office Director, Matteo Bruni, the Pope’s health situation is challenging. Laboratory tests, chest X-rays, and clinical assessments continue to indicate a complex health picture. The Vatican reported that the Pope is battling a polymicrobial infection, stemming from bronchiectasis and asthma bronchitis, which has complicated the treatment process. Antibiotic therapy with cortisone has been initiated to address this issue.
Bilateral Pneumonia Detected
Today, a chest CT scan revealed that Pope Francis has developed bilateral pneumonia, adding further complexity to his condition. This discovery prompted the need for additional pharmacological treatment. Despite these health challenges, Bruni assured that the Pope remains in good spirits.
Pope’s Daily Routine and Requests for Prayer
Pope Francis has been able to receive the Eucharist this morning and has alternated between resting and praying during the day. His holiness expressed gratitude for the prayers and support he is receiving from Catholics worldwide. He humbly asks that the faithful continue to pray for his health and well-being.
Pope Francis continues to face health challenges, but he remains hopeful and appreciates the prayers offered on his behalf. The Vatican has assured the public that he is receiving the best possible care and medical attention.
