In the audience with the participants of the Seminar on Ethics in Health Management, Pope Francis thanked God for not having had pneumonia: “It’s a very acute infectious bronchitis.”
Editorial (02/12/2023 3:04 PM, Gaudium Press) During the audience with the participants of the Seminar on Ethics in Health Management, the Pope revealed some details about his current health condition.
“Yes, thank you. As you can see, I’m alive,” the Pontiff began, emphasizing that “the doctor didn’t let me go to Dubai. The reason is that it’s very hot there, and you go from heat to air conditioning. And that, in this bronchial situation, [is not convenient].”
Francis thanked God “for it not having been pneumonia. It’s a very acute infectious bronchitis. I no longer have a fever, but I continue to take antibiotics and such. Thank you for all of this.”
After expressing gratitude for the visit he received, the Pontiff did not fail to make remarks about medicine and health:
“Take care of health; health has a kind of duality, it is strong and fragile. What health this boy has, how he resists, how strong he is,” but it is also fragile. Poorly cared-for health gives rise to fragility. I really like preventive medicine because it prevents events before they happen.”
