According to the head of the beatification commission, there is already a miracle recognized by Rome and attributed to Isabella’s intercession, which would meet the necessary requirement for her beatification.
Spain – Valladolid (18/02/2022 10:00 AM Gaudium Press) The cause of beatification of Queen Isabella the Catholic is completed. According to Fr. Jose Luis Rubio Willen, head of the Commission for the Beatification and Canonization of Queen Isabella the Catholic, beatification is only awaiting Pope Francis’ decision.
A Miracle recognized by Rome
Queen Isabella the Catholic canonization process was initiated by Pope Pius XII in 1957. It opened ten years later in the Archdiocese of Valladolid, Spain, where the Queen died.
In total, there are already more than 20 volumes of historical documentation and many favours performed through her intercession.
According to Fr. Rubio Willen, there is already one miracle attributed to Isabel’s intercession and recognized by Rome. It concerns the cure of a priest suffering from advanced pancreatic cancer who recovered inexplicably after his family prayed, asking for the Queen’s intercession. The miracle would fulfill the requirement for her beatification.
The greatest Queen in universal History
Once this miracle is recognized and approved by the Pope, “the greatest Queen in universal history will be beatified. There is no other woman like her, and there are other holy queens. With Isabella, history changed and entered the modern era. She changed the maps that existed then, and her mission was to bring evangelization to America,” notes Father Willen.
For now, the Isabella the Catholic Commission continues to promote devotion among the faithful through prints, books, videos and symposiums. “Our goal -emphasizes Fr. Willen- is to help people notice her as a saint, venerate her and welcome her intercession.” (EPC)
