We must always seek frequent and worthy Holy Communions, accompanied by the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Newsdesk (28/07/2021 21:25, Gaudium Press) Those living in the world have an even greater need of the Sacrament of the Eucharist than those who live in a state of retreat or religious community. Continually stationed on the battlefield, those living in society must strengthen and arm themselves with the best weapons in order not to succumb to its ways.
Thus, to businessmen, magistrates and young people, so exposed to the whirlwind of the world, I say, ‘Take Holy Communion every day, and if it were possible, ten times a day!’
You have a lot of work to do; get plenty of nourishment! Consider Holy Communion as a means of sustaining and strengthening you, and not as an unattainable and difficult act of virtue.
And, since Holy Communion is not proposed to you as a reward for virtue, you must receive it because you are weak and feel overburdened by the labours of the Christian life.
Take Holy Communion, therefore, not because you are saints, but in order to become saints. Jesus Christ invites you to Holy Communion saying: “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”(Mt 11:28).
