The 25th International Marian Mariological Congress takes place from September 8 to 11.

Presided over by Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, president of the Pontifical Council for Culture, and organized by the Pontificia Academia Mariana Internationalis, the 25th International Marian Congress is taking place from September 8 to 11.

The event’s central theme is “Mary among theologies and cultures today: models, communications and perspectives.” It will be the first time that the congress will take place by videoconference.

About 300 representatives of Mariological Societies from the five continents will participate in the meetings.

According to the president of the Academy, Fr. Stefano Cecchin, the congress is “an important occasion to reflect on the path of Marian theology also in the light of the dialogue that challenges us on faith and cultures.”

Pope Francis also addressed an inaugural message to the participants of the event. The Pontiff noted that “Mary, in the beauty of following the Gospel and in her service to the common good of humanity and the planet,” teaches us to listen to the voice of those most in need.

The Pontiff also praised the work of the Pontificia Academia Mariana Internationalis. Since its foundation, it has promoted Marian assemblies and studies throughout the world. He stated that “such Congresses are a clear testament to the fact that Mariology is a necessary presence for dialogue among cultures and is capable of nourishing fraternity and peace.”
