For 60 consecutive hours the Holy Rosary will be prayed to commemorate the 450th anniversary of Christendom’s victory at the Battle of Lepanto. About 40 countries will participate in the prayer chain.
Newsroom (05/10/2021 04:00, Gaudium Press) To commemorate the 450th anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto, the Mater Fatima Movement will launch the Holy League and a “Siege of Jericho”. The intention is to commemorate Our Lady’s victory during the historic battle.
Rosary: A powerful weapon against the enemies of the Faith
In 1214, Our Lady appeared to St. Dominic of Gusman and gave him the rosary: “a powerful weapon against the enemies of the faith.
When Our Lady appeared at Fatima, the message about the rosary had not changed. The recitation of the rosary is capable of achieving peace for the world.
The Mater Fatima Movement stated that the victory of the Christian soldiers during the Battle of Lepanto is proof of the power and effectiveness of the Holy Rosary. Indeed, at the request of St. Pius V, all Christendom prayed the rosary for the victory of the soldiers of the Holy League.
The Mater Fatima Movement will broadcast the uninterrupted recitation of the rosary for 60 consecutive hours. About 40 countries will participate in this prayer chain.
The event will begin on October 5 and will conclude on October 7, the anniversary of the battle. The faithful all over the world are invited to participate in the initiative.
Battle of Lepanto and the Feast of the Holy Rosary
The Battle of Lepanto took place on October 7, 1571. Europe was threatened by a Muslim invasion.
Through a revelation from the Blessed Virgin, Pope Saint Pius V knew that victory would be Christendom’s if the faithful recited the Rosary. St. Pius V commanded all Christendom to recite the Rosary in that intention.
On October 7, the naval Battle took place where the Catholics had the victory thanks to Our Lady. In return, the Holy Pontiff instituted the feast of the Holy Rosary. ( FM)
