the Shroud of Turin: A Symbol of Faith
A replica of the Holy Shroud of Turin will be lent by the Shrine of Turin and displayed as part of the exhibition. Visitors will also find more than 30 gallery panels with images and information, along with a life-size 3D sculpture of the man on the Shroud. This sculpture, titled ‘The Sign,’ was created by sculptor Pablo Eduardo, based on research by Dr. Gilbert Lavoie, a medical expert in Shroud studies.
Exploring the Holy Shroud’
The Shroud of Turin exhibition responds to Saint John Paul II’s call for a deeper understanding and devotion to the Shroud. According to the Pope, the Shroud is a unique sign pointing to Jesus, inviting people to live as He did. This exhibition will help bring that message to life for all who visit.
Saint John Paul II’s Call
In his 1998 visit to the Shrine of Turin, Saint John Paul II urged the faithful to contemplate the Shroud, emphasizing its value in fostering spiritual growth. By reflecting on the suffering depicted in the image, he believed that people could break free from the superficiality of selfishness.
A Spiritual Journey
The exhibition will provide visitors with the opportunity to engage with the Shroud’s mystery and deepen their understanding of its spiritual and historical significance. It stands as a powerful reminder of Saint John Paul II’s legacy and the role the Shroud plays in the Christian faith.
