The faithful are saddened and outraged by the theft of the crown of Our Lady of la Antigua, their patron saint.

Newsroom (05/05/2023 21:55, Gaudium PressThe news caused commotion in the population of La Haba, Badajoz, Spain, since the Virgin is highly revered by the local villagers.

According to the parish priest, Jose Romero, the perpetrators of the robbery forced the door of the hermitage, broke the glass that protects the image and took the crown. Romero points out that they did not touch anything else in the hermitage: neither the Tabernacle nor the money for candles.

The stolen crown, from the beginning of the last century, does not have much economic value, but it is of great esteem to the inhabitants of La Haba, so the parish priest asks them to return it. Meanwhile, they have placed another crown on the Virgen de la Antigua.

The image of the Virgen de la Antigua is located in a hermitage located in a natural setting a few kilometers from the town of La Haba. According to historical data, this hermitage has existed since 1400. The temple is composed of different parts, a building, chapel and archways, which differ by being an superposition of different dimensions at different heights.
