Newsroom (August 3, 2021, 14:06 PM, Gaudium Press) During August, Saint Dulce of the Poor, the first saint born in Brazil, will receive special honors. The celebrations began last Sunday, August 1, at the shrine dedicated to the Good Angel of Brazil.
Prayer of Saint Dulce of the Poor
A trezena was started with the theme “Come, blessed of my Father”. With in-person and online programming, the celebrations will also include solemn masses, drive-thru, short film, the blessing of the families, rosary in honor of the Brazilian Saint, and blessing of the Blessed Sacrament.
“In this time of so many hardships, of grief, we will be in communion, praying for all of those who ask for the intercession of Saint Dulce. But we will also celebrate this feast, which is a time of grace for all devotees, pilgrims, faithful people, admirers of Saint Dulce,” said Friar Giovanni Messias, the rector of the Shrine of Saint Dulce of the Poor.
Program for the Feast of Saint Dulce of the Poor
From August 1 to August 12, daily masses will be celebrated at 7 am, 8:30 am, and noon. At 4 pm, the Shrine’s Internet channel will broadcast a short film entitled “The Inner Life of Saint Dulce of the Poor.”
On August 8, from 10 am to 4 pm, there will be a drive-thru in the parking lot of the shrine. There, the Capuchin friars will bless the devotees who arrive by car.
On August 13, the date on which the Church celebrates the feast of Saint Dulce, there will be masses at 7 am, 8:30 am, 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 4 pm. Cardinal Sergio da Rocha, Archbishop of Salvador and Primate of Brazil, will preside in the Holy Mass at 8:30. (EPC)
