The devout faithful offered flowers, participated in Holy Masses, and held several performances in honor of the Marian Icon.

Newsroom (10/07/2022 10:03, Gaudium Press) From June 23 to 27, thousands of Vietnamese Catholics made a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, located in Thai Ha parish in Hanoi, to pay homage to the patron saint.

The Redemptorists were responsible for restoring the Association of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in the parishes of the country. Until before 1954, the Association had 50,000 members. Currently, around 20 thousand lay members are part of this Marian Brotherhood.

The Devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Help

The devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Help is present all over the world. This icon is rich in details and to each one is attributed a meaning, a symbolism, a message. According to tradition, the picture was painted by a hitherto unknown artist who, in turn, was inspired by a painting attributed to St. Luke.

In Byzantine style, the icon measures 53 by 41.5 centimeters, and was produced in wood on a golden background. During the Roman Empire, when the work was executed, artists used gold or simply its color to portray only great personalities. (EPC)
