Newsroom (09/01/2022 19:45, Gaudium Press) The US Postal Service (USPS) announced the issuance of a new limited edition postage stamp that will be part of the Forever Stamp collection. The stamp will feature the world-famous Italian oil painting “The Virgin and Child”.
New Stamp
The print depicts Our Lady holding and looking at the Child Jesus. “In one of her arms [the Mother of God] holds protectively at her waist, the other tenderly touches her arm, while the infant Jesus turns his head to look out of the painting to the left,” the USPS described in a press release.
Launch Ceremony
The launch ceremony for the new stamp will be held in Massachusetts at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston on September 22, the date the stamp will begin to be issued. The event, which will be attended by USPS Vice President of Organizational Development Jenny Utterback, will be open to the public. Tickets are free but limited.
How to get the seal?
Those interested in purchasing the stamp may do so in person during the launch ceremony or through local post offices or online at the USPS website (usps.com/shopstamps). The “Virgin and Child” stamps will be sold for $12 and include a book of 20. Each stamp is worth 60 cents. (EPC)
