Police in Tulsa, Oklahoma, arrested a man yesterday who stabbed an employee and started a fire at Holy Family Cathedral.
Newsroom (08/10/2022 9:00 AM, Gaudium Press) The rector of Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, Father Gary Kastl, reported that some teachers and students were gathering and taking pictures on the cathedral steps, when a man carrying a box walked toward them. They quickly entered the school that is next to the cathedral.
The subject tried to enter the cathedral, but the doors were locked. He then lit an object (Molotov cocktail) and threw it at the side of the cathedral, damaging some windows.
An employee came out to see what was happening and was stabbed, wounded in both hands with something like a sword.
Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin tweeted the following statement:
“Tulsa police officers responded to a call from the church downtown around 4pm after a man attacked a staff member with a sword, detonated incendiary devices and attempted to burn down the building. There were children in the building, all unharmed. A short time later, we arrested the man at the corner of 71st and Sheridan after he caused a disturbance in a store by threatening to detonate an explosive device. The investigation into this case is not yet complete. […] We are working with our federal partners to bring charges and will share more information as it becomes available.”
The suspect was arrested an hour and a half after the incident, Fr. Kastl reported.
A Mass was celebrated for the healing of the employee.
Attacks on the Catholic Church are growing every day.
