Among the main celebrations Pope Francis will preside over is the opening Mass of the Synod of Bishops.
Newsroom (18/09/2021 10:00, Gaudium Press) The Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations, Monsignor Guido Marini has released the calendar of celebrations presided over by Pope Francis in the months of September and October this year 2021.
According to the Holy See Press Office, on September 23 at 5pm (local time), the Holy Father will preside over a Holy Mass at the Altar of the Chair in St Peter’s Basilica for the Commission of the Episcopal Conferences of the European Community.
Opening of the Synod of Bishops
On October 10, the Pontiff will preside the Holy Mass for the opening of the Synod of Bishops. The Eucharistic celebration will take place at 10 a.m. (local time) in St. Peter’s Basilica.
The theme chosen for the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, announced in March last year, is “For a synodal Church: communion, participation and mission”. The synodal itinerary has received approval from the Holy Father.
Episcopal Ordinations in the Vatican
Finally, at 9am on 17 October, Francis will preside over a Holy Mass with episcopal ordinations in St Peter’s Basilica. (EPC)
