The Pope’s condition is stable, with slight improvements from respiratory and motor treatment, according to the Holy See Press Office.
Newsroom (17/03/2025 Gaudium Press) On the afternoon of Monday, March 17, the Vatican Press Office released an update regarding Pope Francis’s health. The condition of the Pope is stable, with slight improvements in both his respiratory and motor treatments.
Next Medical Bulletin on Wednesday
The Vatican revealed that Pope Francis “requires less high-flow oxygenation with nasal cannulas and, at times, can go without oxygen therapy. At night, he uses non-invasive mechanical ventilation.” Regarding the swelling seen in the Pope’s hand, which was visible in a photo released the day before, the Vatican clarified that it is due to his reduced mobility, but it is already showing signs of improvement.
Daily Activities and Continued Prayer
According to the Vatican, Pope Francis spent the day “praying, resting, and engaging in some work activities.” It is anticipated that the next medical bulletin will be released on Wednesday, though a general update for journalists will be provided on Tuesday evening.
Pope Francis Reflects on Faith, Hope, and Love
On Sunday, Pope Francis shared a heartfelt message about his current health struggles. “I am going through a time of trial and unite myself with many brothers and sisters who are sick: fragile, at this moment, like me. Our bodies are weak, but nothing prevents us from loving, praying, giving ourselves, and being signs of hope for one another in faith,” he stated.
He also emphasized the importance of light and care in hospitals, as well as the humble services that reflect God’s love. Pope Francis invited the faithful to join him in “praising the Lord, who never abandons us and places people who reflect His love beside us in times of pain.”
