Newsroom – Colombia – Cúcuta (July 15, 2022, 10:20 AM, Gaudium Press) The website of the Colombian Episcopal Conference published an article written by the Bishop of Cúcuta (Colombia), Mons. In the text, the prelate deals with the causes of the innumerable cases of violence experienced by humanity in our days.
“The cases of violence and destruction that we are living nowadays at a world, national and regional level, must lead us to a moment of reflection about the root of so many evils that are destroying humanity, concluding that everything is due to the fact that we have removed God from personal, family and social history,” he assured.
Humanity has lost the sense of God
Bishop Garcés lamented that men build their lives with merely human criteria, trying to do their own will and forgetting God’s will. “The sense of God has been lost, and with that, the sense of evil and sin disappears”, he affirmed.
As a solution to this sad situation experienced by humanity, the prelate stresses the need to “return to God, to receive Our Lord Jesus Christ into our lives, because He wants to dwell in every heart and in every family, giving us His forgiveness and mercy.
Humanity needs the humility and meekness of Jesus
According to him, humanity needs the humility and meekness of the pierced heart of Jesus Christ to take its course again. “How good it does us to let Jesus dwell in our hearts again and to launch us to love one another with his own heart,” he assured.
Bishop Garcés concluded by exhorting the faithful to pray asking the Lord to come to our aid, saying with Faith and Hope: “Have mercy on us and on the whole world!”, because in this way we will be instruments of that mercy for our brothers and sisters. (EPC)
