They Call for Justice for the One Million “Victims” of Pro-abortion Laws.

Newsroom (1/05/2023 19:00, Gaudium Press) Abortion has been decriminalizing in Mexico for 16 years. The argument was that once decriminalized, the number of abortions would fall as well as its clandestine rates. It has been proven that this legislation has been a failure, causing more than one million abortions in Mexico.

In fact, statistics show that the number of abortions has increased by 268%, and 80% are performed through medication and in women’s homes. Of those who resort to abortion, 74% are elementary and high school students.

Thus, the Pasos por la Vida movement called on society to participate in the 12th edition of the March for Life, “Pasos por la Vida” (Steps for Life) held this Saturday, April 29, in which 25,000 Mexicans took to the streets to demand the repeal of abortion in Mexico City. As well as in other states that already practice it; and the creation of public policies to support pregnant women in vulnerable situations.

Fátima Guzmán, representative of Pasos por la Vida in Jalisco, said that in recent years it has been proven that decriminalizing abortion does not solve the problems that cause it. “It is not a comprehensive solution, women are not better cared for, the risks in its practice have not ended,” he stressed.

Therefore, he asked that “politicians open their eyes and realize that Mexico wants life and not unjust laws that promote systematic violence against women and society.”
